a Whisper…discouragement

“Breathe, my child, for it is a time to trust me to provide all that you need for this day.  I am your source. I am your strength and I will help you as you look to me for provision. Let my river of peace flow over you in this moment so that you can hear me and know my thoughts for you today.

Do not be discouraged as you are doing good in the world around you.  My Spirit is upon you to help you, to guide you, and to make a way for you to be effective for me.  Your smile is needed even when it seems like people don’t care. Rest in me; abide in me; be who I have made you to be.

When I place you somewhere there is always a greater purpose for what you do. When you don’t feel like you’re doing much, you can’t imagine what others are seeing by your presence, in your witness, in your behavior. You are a person of peace because you walk in peace with me, and I am your Lord.  I am personal to you.

People are hungry for peace; however, they have a hard time knowing where to find it. Many are simply afraid to look to me because they do not understand what it is to have faith in what they cannot see. You must pray for closed eyes to be opened, cold hearts to be made warm, and closed minds to be made soft.

When others offend you with their language or actions, pray. For it is the enemy of your soul at work trying not only to discourage the one who is speaking, but the one’s whose ears are sensitive to such things.  The enemy only has the power you give to him to discourage you.

Stand firm and remain strong in me. You can do this wherever you find yourself. You are capable of multi-tasking when you exercise your spiritual muscles. Nothing is impossible for you.  Be blessed today for I love you and I am near to you.”

“You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.” Psalms 59:17 (NIV)

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave your nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (NIV)

a Whisper…miracles

“Remember that no matter how you feel miracles can happen as you look to me. For my ways are not yours, and yours are not mine. Anything that you don’t fully comprehend can be considered a miracle.

You don’t always see all the miracles I perform in your life, yet you know that I do. Sometimes your belief is based upon a feeling or a sense that you have; but for my children, miracles happen every day. Though you cannot see them, and you might not understand some of them, you must trust me.

The enemy is a roaring lion, but those who love me are protected in the Spiritual realms so that sometimes what is natural to me is unseen by you, yet you benefit from what I do for you. Faith moves mountains that you do not know exist.  I am your Father and I will always care for you.”

Job 5:9 “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.”

and He whispered to me…

“There are times in your life when my peace must be enough; there are things that you cannot fathom or understand about my will and purposes.  That is where trust comes in and you choose to trust me or not. However, when you do, I will never disappoint.

You should not live in the fear of death. For my children it (death) is the pathway to eternity with me and life as it should have been from the beginning. When it comes to heaven, you see through a very dark glass because what is waiting for you is too amazing to be revealed now.

The greatest gift, that of being united with Christ, is the ultimate purpose and fulfillment of your life. I am coming for all my children one day; some before the end of time and some when time ends.  I am coming to each in their own way and my children must trust me.  Life is short, death is long; yet when you are mine and you set your sights on eternity, what will come to you will be more than you could have ever hoped for or imagined. This world is not your home. In the place I have prepared for you, your fellowship with me will never be hindered again.

There is joy in the life you have on earth so be optimistic and always look for me, for you will find me as you seek and pursue me. You can know abundance where you are; but always keep an eye toward eternity. Trust in me for all things, but particularly for the things you don’t understand.

Let it be well with your soul as I pour out my peace upon you.  Walk with me and talk with me and allow me to speak to you in my word, in my creation, and through others who know me and have walked with me. Don’t allow yourself to become too attached to this life otherwise your focus will be skewed, and you will not be able see me as I want to reveal myself to you.  You are passing through, not to, this life. Keep an eye toward the heaven I have prepared for you because it will be glorious.”

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Revelation 21: 1 – 5a (NIV)

And God whispered to me…

“My peace is still flowing and it is your choice to let its river flow through you. Live in this river of peace as it will calm and sooth your mind. It is a gentle river that carries with it the course of your day. There are always twists and turns within the course of my river, but you don’t have to fear, you can choose to let me carry you through.

The river that comes from me is a beautiful place. It is filled with lush vegetation for you to indulge in. It is relaxing, it is peaceful. It contains the glimpses of heaven that I want to give you in this life.

Let your mind visualize the beauty of my river flowing in you, and let the waters of my Spirit run fresh over you each morning. Then sail with me through each day, and be carried off to sleep each night by the peaceful sounds of my gentle waters.

Let this vision that I have put in your mind sink in, and let my blessings give you peace.

I love you my child. You are safe in the river of my love.”

Revelation 22:1-2a “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city.”

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

For all intents and purposes, I suppose you could call me a Texas lady now even though I was born in Seattle, grew up in Washington, Oregon, Indiana, and California.  Yes, the Lone Star state has been my home for 39 years.  I live in the land of “big” — big state, big oil, big thunderstorms, lightening, and tornadoes. We have Longhorns (reference the cows in my case), Aggies (ref. the university), Armadillos, and Bluebonnets. The latter being most beautiful in the Spring, (which lasts about 2 weeks) before it’s summer and it’s just plain HOT! We say Y’all, and often howdy. We like cowboy boots, cowboy hats, and sometimes we like the Dallas Cowboys. 😊

I am Nancy or Nance (as family and friends often call me) — (Nelson-Larson) — and my home is in Roanoke, Texas.  I am a Christian, or a Jesus girl, as they say in the South. Oh… how I love Jesus because he first loved me…

For the past year I considered the start of this project, a blog called Whispers from God. Over the last several years, as God has been speaking to me in prayer, I have been journaling the things he has spoken to my heart. These whispers have drawn me closer to him, they have encouraged me in my journey of faith, and they have revealed to me how deeply I am loved by him. It has taken a long time for me to understand the depth of his love for me, but in seeking and drawing near to him, he has shown me who he is, and even further, who he wants me to be in him and for him.

Friends have suggested to me that there are probably a lot of people who would benefit from hearing the things that God speaks to my heart.  Within the last couple of weeks another friend inspired me with some kind words that tipped the scale and moved me to begin this journey. I had shared some of my testimony with him in an email to encourage him in his search to find God.  He said that after reading what I had written, it occurred to him that I was a good writer.  Simple, not profound, but still the words rang loud in my ears as if God was using them to validate something inside of me.

I believe God gives each of us gifts to use for him.  He takes our talents and hones them over time as he prepares us to use them in serving him. It is my desire to use the gifts he has given to me to encourage others as I have been encouraged. I am only a vehicle. It is the Lord who speaks to my heart, and it is he who wants to encourage all of us who seek him.

For this blog, I will share the ‘Whispers’ that God has so wonderfully imparted to me.  I do not presume that what has been shared with me will bless everyone as it has blessed me, however, it is my prayer that all of you who read the words written here will be encouraged and inspired to go deeper in relationship to our Lord Jesus Christ, and even more to learn, as I am learning, to hear His still small voice whispering to you.  He wants to become personal to each of us. He wants us to know that he is a Father who loves us deeply, and he wants us to experience his presence in our lives every day. This is part of my journey and I hope many of you will come along with me as we learn from his whispers.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
