“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:11 NKJV
I woke up this morning and checked what had happened overnight concerning our mid-term elections. As a Christian Nationalist who believes in a Biblical world view, I was surely disappointed and saddened by most of what has happened.
I felt discouraged in my state, Texas, that so many “Christians” voted for a man who claimed to be a “Christian” simply because he said so. But his platform has so blatantly shown the lack of a Biblical world view. And then, I was equally disappointed because so many “Christians” simply didn’t vote at all. It was predicted that would be the case. It was also said that if true Christian Nationalists who believe in the Biblical world view had voted, the outcome could have been different.
I prayed, I voted, I encouraged others to do the same and yet after the news, my foundation was shaken. Then I started to think. Where is my foundation? What is my foundation? Who is my foundation? Is it the world I live in, the government that is supposed to lead it? Political people?
No, no, no!!!
I said I am a Christian Nationalist. The Christian part must come first. “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ,” as 1 Cor. 3:11 states.
Will I choose to be disappointed by the outcome or to be a discerner of truth? There are many things in life that will try to knock us off our foundation and this morning I realized that I needed to not let these political outcomes shake me so hard that my foundation becomes cracked.
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:” [25] “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24,25 (NKJV)
There is a song, Christ is My Firm Foundation, the lyrics were written by Cody Carnes. I would encourage you to listen to it. I was reminded of this song today as I have been mulling over this stuff.
The words of the first verse say:
“Christ is my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now
He won’t, He won’t”
“When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.” Proverbs 10:25 NKJV
“Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together.” Isaiah 48:13 NKJV
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” II Timothy 2:19 NKJV
God is on the throne, He rules over nations and the affairs of men. (Psalm 47:8 / Daniel 4:17) Jesus is on the throne of my heart and He rules in my life and hopefully in yours. Each of us must stand strong on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ no matter what is happening in our government and to our country. But we also have a great responsibility to continue to stand up for righteousness and a Biblical worldview in the political process—even if we don’t receive the outcomes we desire. Otherwise, like the unjust, what falls on them, also falls on us who continue to live in this world.
“You went forth for the salvation of Your people, For salvation with Your Anointed. You struck the head from the house of the wicked, By laying bare from foundation to neck. Selah” Habakkuk 3:13 NKJV
“If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” [4] “The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.” [5] “The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.” [6] “Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup.” [7] “For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.” Psalm 11:3-7
